The Goal of the Renewable Energy Disaster Relief Fund (REDRF) is to provide needed equipment powered by renewable energy to survivors of disasters in the United States. Partners in this effort will be Florida National Energy Foundation and Florida Solar Energy Center at University of Central Florida. By collecting donations from the general public, businesses and various organizations, energy hardware (such as PV panels and wind generators) will be purchased to supply power to equipment used in first response efforts after a disaster. Ideally, the deployment of equipment will be within the first three weeks after a disaster or until utility services are restored. In collaboration with local disaster area organizations, a team of trained REDRF first responders will deploy certified renewable energy powered equipment to the disaster site. The process will be guided by an advisory board composed of standard organizations, research institutes, and disaster organization representatives to assure that cost effective and viable renewable resources are deployed to meet disaster survivor needs.

This Fund is a unique 501 (c) 3 non-profit foundation under the administration of the National Energy Foundation with project and technical support from the Florida Solar Energy Center.
