Kids Get Creative about Conserving Energy
Citizens and Indianapolis Colts Partner in Poster Contest

INDIANAPOLIS-- Winter weather is upon us and conserving energy can save money and the environment. With the help of the Indianapolis Colts, Citizens Energy Group is making this valuable lesson fun.

“Learning how to conserve energy is an important lesson for all of us, no matter our age,” said Carey Lykins, President and CEO of Citizens Energy Group. “At Citizens, we believe that if kids learn the value of energy conservation now, they’ll pass it onto the adults in their lives and carry it with them as they get older.”

In concert with the National Energy Foundation and in partnership with the Indianapolis Colts, Citizens is challenging Marion County students (kindergarten to grade 8) to a creative competition. The rules are simple-- students should create a unique poster explaining ways to conserve energy in their community and at home. Teachers must submit entries by January 20, 2012. Entries will be judged on how effectively students convey their message. Three finalists will be selected in each category:  grades K-2, 3-5, and 6-8. Of the three finalists, one grand prize winner will be named in each category.
