NEF
Has Moved
National Energy Foundation has relocated its offices. The new address is 145
South 400 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. The new headquarters is a renovated
house built in 1902 which has been retrofitted for office use. The move will
allow NEF to more closely live its mission of Cultivating and Promoting an
Energy Literate Society by providing a more energy efficient building and promoting
alternate transportation methods (mass transit and walking) for the employees.
BLM
Video Project
The Utah Bureau of Land Management and NEF have teamed up to create a script
for a new educational film about mine safety called Stay Out and Stay Alive.
The film, which has yet to be produced, will feature a song written by NEF’s
own Gary Swan; Mr. Swan also wrote and performed all the songs from the popular
Rock Music CD. For the script writing, NEF contracted the services of Lezlee
Whiting. NEF would like to thank Terri Snyder (Utah BLM) and Lucy Malin (Utah
Division of Oil, Gas and Mining) for their support and help with the project.
ICE
Though the entry deadline of January 31st, 2008 has come and gone, Igniting
Creative Energy is in full swing at National Energy Foundation. Over the
past two weeks, judges from across the country have critiqued over 1,500
projects. The projects come from both the United States and Canada in the
form of essays, art, PowerPoint presentations, websites, dioramas, posters,
and other creative media. This year marks the eighth annual Igniting Creative
Energy Challenge and NEF would like to thank Johnson Controls Inc, Philips
Lighting, and the United States Energy Association for their support as
well as all the teachers and students for their entries.
Citizens
Gas Adult Ed
NEF and Citizens Gas share common goals concerning the importance of energy
efficiency and energy education. Together they have launched an adult training
program for employees that interact directly with the public. These employees
will receive training services, educational materials, and energy efficiency
technologies that will assist them to better understand energy efficiency and
conservation and will enable them to pass along energy savings tips and strategies
to the consumers. NEF has created a nine-step Take Action Guide for use in
the Citizens Gas Adult Education program. Sunny Dent, NEF Master Trainer
and Vice President of Program Operations conducted 18 sessions at Citizens
Gas locations in Indianapolis, IN
during the month of February training approximately 250 Citizen Gas employees.
Coordinators
Conference
National Energy Foundation held its annual coordinators conference February
5, 2008 at the Hampton Inn in Salt Lake City. Coordinators from Florida
and Idaho joined the Utah team to share best practices, learn about what's
new at NEF, plan and strategize program implementation for next year as well
as participate as preliminary judges for the 2008 Igniting Creative Energy
Challenge. The sessions included training on new NEF materials and a thorough
introduction to NEF's new national Think! Energy program. |
