Change A Light, Change the World
Murray City Power and NEF present Murray KID Power
Murray, UT- Murray KID Power, conducted by National
Energy Foundation (NEF) in partnership with Murray City Power,
is an energy awareness and conservation education program for
students in Murray schools. Together NEF and Murray City Power
have teamed up to help preserve our country’s energy
resources and reduce the risks of global climate change by
encouraging junior high students to change at least one light
bulb at home to one that has earned the government’s
ENERGY STAR for energy efficiency. During October, national
energy month, the Change a Light, Change the World Campaign
will be introduced to 520 students in Riverview and Hillcrest
Junior Highs. All participating students will receive one new
compact fluorescent light (CFL) to replace a standard incandescent
bulb in their homes.
Lighting accounts for nearly 20 percent of the average home’s
electric bill and is one of the easiest, most effective places
to save energy. One CFL bulb can save $30 or more in electricity
costs and prevent more than 450 pounds of greenhouse gas emissions.
Join National Energy Foundation and partner Murray City Power
by committing to change at least one light at home this fall
to an energy-efficient one and take the ENERGY STAR Change
a Light Pledge online found at www.energystar.gov/changealight.

Dan Stireman of Murray City Power assists in classroom presentations
by
engaging students in a challenge to power-up a light bulb.
National Energy Foundation is a unique 501
